I need to do some things depending on the setting of a checkbox that is not in the script:

script A

contains a checkbox

script B

what is the most elegant way to do this?
I have several ideas how i can do it but i am unsure which way to go...:-)

Thanks for your ideas...

Maybe you need the partner app of 'setOptions'

The not so elegant way of doing this is using IniRead directly on the other script [interface] section.

Replace the commas with #$c and the component on the second script will need to have fixed coordinates.

Last but not least as other ways are possible.

Assign a script section to be run whenever the user clicks on the checkbox at the script B, this works in the same way as you assign a section to be run when the user clicks on a button.

This script section would write a value (True/False) on the [Variables] section (for example) that could later be read by any external script quite easily by IniRead.

Also remember that you can call script command sections on scripts other than %scriptfile%

Since the user (expectably) only changes the checkbox property from the normal script view then it would always provide an accurate result.
