// programpath exe name icopath icofile
Add_Shortcut,Desktop,,%ProgramFilesDir%\Example\Example2.exe,Example2,Example,1,Launcher.ico,1
Add_Shortcut,StartMenu,,%ProgramFilesDir%\Example\Example2.exe,Example2,Example,1,Launcher.ico,1
unpack

I'm not familiar with the fine print of the Api.

But as a general solution:
- i would set the variables
- call the shortcut routine
- change the values of the variables
- call the shortcut routine again

cheers.gif

like this?

[variables]
%ProgramTitle%=Example
%ProgramEXE%=example.exe
%ProgramFolder%= Example

[process]
Add_Shortcut,Desktop
Add_Shortcut
unpack

[variables]
%ProgramTitle%=Example2
%ProgramEXE%=example2.exe
%ProgramFolder%= Example

[process]
Add_Shortcut,Desktop
Add_Shortcut
unpack

Sorry, but you can't have two variables with the same name.

cheers.gif

so can i build a mini script with just the variable and process sections to add the shortcut for the other program from the first script?

hey nuno:

here is an example of one of your scripts and the variable and shortcut builds:

[variables]
%ProgramTitle%=Example
%ProgramEXE%=example.exe
%ProgramFolder%= Example

[process]
Add_Shortcut,Desktop
Add_Shortcut
unpack

so if i understand this correctly it will build a shortcut on desktop to example.exe. what i would like to do is
and another program within the same folder with a short cut for it. can i just add lines to the variables and
process sections to include the extra shortcuts for the other program??? ex:

[variables]
%ProgramTitle%=Example
%ProgramEXE%=example.exe
%ProgramFolder%= Example
%ProgramTitle%=Example2
%ProgramEXE%=example2.exe
%ProgramFolder%= Example

[process]
Add_Shortcut,Desktop
Add_Shortcut
unpack

I get this bootscreen at my first build booting into a normal bartPEcore.iso
(it is a clean project)

the 'run windows from RAM' method works fine

the same result with BcdwPE
at 'normal PE from CD' get this screen too
the 'in ram' method works ok

Any suggestion?

a quick work around for me is the createmultibootiso.script and boot.script with bcdw.ini in a folder

Hive, you caught me in the middle of posting, and yes, very sleepy. smile.gif
I know you love visual stimuli, will you dl the script and post a shot?

Carfan,
On plugins,
I may well have them all, but if you feel like it, use a dir. printer and post a list of the plugin archives, ( or pm me ).

With regard to adding 'boot from cd' alone..
The reason I didn't rush to do this when you asked before was you may make such an image using a standard imaging script(s). However I assume you like thu UI and option to reboot enough to request this again, so, yes, I'll do it when I have a moment free. -t

thanks:
several iso scripts have bootsect.bin problems. i have a jammykid modied script that works to build multiboot iso but not ram. i thought we-you can make yours a full and complete finishing script eventually with ram, ram-iso, iso, multiboot options so there wasnt so many other types of finishing scrits to weed through. jammy kids original would boot to cd ok but i could never boot to an outside iso image (trueimage.iso ex.) i modified one of his bcdw.bin files and was able to make it work.

p.s.

dont give up on your bartpe core project. it is much more versatile in what programs it can run than regular types of builds. its not for everybody but neither is the normal winbuilder stuff. im not saying one is better than the other. they all have their places.

Thanks for the script.

HEY THUUN:

personal favor, could you add a little bit to your script and have a third option.

as it is now boot 1) to ram and cd 2) ram only 3) new option cd only

Thanks Carfan

PS ive got a bunch of converted bartpe/ubcd4win/reatogo plugins for your bartpe core project.
are you interested?

If a fresh nativeEx works, LiveXP should work too (due to the nativeEx core functions)
Maybe you try to download LiveXP\Tools\upgradeCore from the nativeEx server and execute it.

The only possible change for me is:
Does the new path contain spaces? (inspite I think that this should not matter)

Peter

will try tonite

Please do this test for me:
In your non-running nativeEx_barebone
  • rebuild and save the log, the temp\nativeEx_barebone and workbench\nativeEx_barebone directories
  • navigate to !WBManager > WBManager
  • save constallation as 'lsass_error'
  • choose and restore constellation 'standard'
(maybe you have to restore the source path)
  • rebuild and save like above
If the second build does not work too, post all the zipped files
If the second build works, post the \nativeEx_barebone\!WBManager\lsass_error and \nativeEx_barebone\!WBManager\standard folders

Peter

since last night - i have a working build of nativeex from a fresh download from server yesterday.
i need to get my livexp going. is the idea the same for it. the only thing that i know that i have changed on my system is the location of the xp sp2 source file. could this be the cause??? - i used to use an iso in a virtual cd mounted as drive m. now i have a xp sp2 install disk copied to hard drive in a folder. could the change of location of the source files cause this since livexp was originally built with the m drive as source???

maybe you should doit that way

CODE
[xpe shortcut]
RegHiveLoad,"WB-SOFTWARE","%TargetDir%\I386\system32\config\software"
RegWrite,HKLM,0x2,"Sherpya\XPEinit\Programs", "Disk Tools\HDTune", "%SystemDrive%\Programs\HDTune\HDTune.exe||%SystemDrive%\Programs\HDTune\HDTune.exe"
RegHiveUnload,"WB-SOFTWARE"

regarding ramdrive you can edit ramdrv script and change the size

also,

what would be the best way to add drivers?

hey h7se:

i had a successful build with us xp sp2 rtm. i want to add desktop and programs shortcuts to plugin scripts and change the ramdisk size with your build. ive worked with normal bartpe before but your is modified and the plugins are in script form rather the the normal plugin (.inf) form. ive written sherpyas reg additions to create shortcuts in xpe but i cant get it to work with your build. i have an example script that i have modified to use with nativeex. please take a look and see what ive done wrong. i want to use the explorer shell instead of nu2menu. i think nu2menu is going backwards if you already have explorer.

the password window pops up - account name greyed out winint\Guest - cant be changed. whats up with this?

last night i did a fresh download on winbuilder 72 from thuun.boot-land.net server. the only thing i changed was i unchecked create bcdwpe.script and checked make iso. during boot i get a message to insert winpe into drive a. i am supposing that setupldr.bin version is the cause. can this project be changed to do a normal iso boot instead of a ram boot? i guess another question is that can bcdwpe script be changed? in current version you can opt to build ram and normal boot or just a ram boot. i would like someone help me add build just a normal iso boot with no ram option. i really hope some picks up the ball on this one.

Thanks Carfan

Hi All!
Well i have been using the new BartPECore build of WinBuilder for a few weeks now and love it so far. thanks a million! I have been running into a few issues that i wanted to bring up to see if anyone else is having the same issues.

so far i have about 70 PEB plugins working with my build. when adding some plugins to the CorePlugins Directory i get this error upon booting after the build, no errors during buildtime though.

i attached the screenshot of the error message i am getting when booting into vmware for a test.

this is happening when adding several different plugins i have written or downloaded, and i cannot see what, if anything, is hosed out in the plugin.inf files. the plugins that are causing issues have been tested on other instances of pebuilder i am working with and cause no issues what so ever.

any thoughts?

plz let me know if you need to see any of the plugin files or any logs and i will post them asap!

thanks in advance!

indica

best thing to do is remove the plugins in question from a build. get your build back to a state where it will boot. add the plugins back into the build one or two at a time until again no boot. by doing this we can isolate which plugin is causing the problem and then check into the reason. its always best to do a baseline backup of your project in working order and then add period backups as you add plugins. this way if you
create a problem you have a quick starting over point in order to more quickly resolve your conflict.

thanks
Carfan

boy was i wrong. i seems the whole problem was that i was pointing to %tools%\bootsect.bin. bootsect.bin needs to be in the %BaseDir% to work porperly. need to point to it there.

Hello,
Have succeeded using BartPe, very impressed. Have the following very minor problem though.
I made a an audio driver script for the on-board Nvidia sound. Now when BartPe loads the 'Found new hardware wizard' pops up, I press 'cancel' and continue. The drivers are all loaded and I have sound functionality. Is there any way to stop this wizard as the drivers are already loaded.
Thanks.

hwpnp runs automaticllay at startup as configured. also, when pentwork config runs i believe that bartpe also executes hardware searches. hwpnp can be written only to scan certain hardware, etc- volumes, net, etc.
i also have had that problem with my hard drives on a massive driver script i call brute force. in the bartpe world hwpnp can be turned off as autorun. i use penetwork instead of penetwork config to stop its auto scan. i believe the lastet version of penetwork only scan for nics. hwpnp uses and switches can be found in the bartpe world and ubcd4win world forums and through the hwpnp plugin info.

This script is for installing you PE build as a virtual hdd image on the active partition. It's designed for Windows XP and Server 2003.
The script may also work on Windows 2000, I will test it on my w2k system soon ( to check wb script process in w2k ).

I'm hoping it's easy to understand,
but feel free to post a question or even a comment. Here's the script..

i tried my first build last night. biuld on usb hard drive. image would not boot. error message cant find ntldr. please help.

thanks carfan

Hello Everybody,

I use the Plugin "zzzFBWF" made by "Alan Clarke" for "BartPE" and I modified it for "XPE" and USB 2.0 Key.

Here is the discussion :

http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?sho...rt=#entry131951

You can download it here : http://rapidshare.com/files/47659329/zzzFB..._For-WinXPE.rar

With this Plugin, you can add "Shortcuts" in the "Desktop". You can also with the "MSI Installer" Plugin, install some Programs, with his "Shortcut". The interest is that, when you "Reboot", all these updates are functional and all the "Shortcut", you have built, appears on your Desktop. All the Programs installed before are functional.

Thanks for your Help and Advices.

Regards !!!

I need help from one of the script writers out there with a really basic set of questions. my problem is i can make it work in english with direct paths to the folders but i want to make this more universal.

c:\rootdirectory\projects\tools would be written as %tools% - correct???
i want to copy a file in the tools directory into a subfolder in the rootdirectory.

ex FileCopy,"%tools%\bootsect.bin","%rootdirectory%\folder" what would the "rootdirecty\folder" read like???

thanks

It was the"%" causing the dl error, everything should work now.
I just renamed the script to keep wb happy.

I'm glad it's been interesting for some of you at least, the past two days I added some changes to smooth out any rough edges.

All seems to work now without issue in my checks, sorry for the silly mistake.

..
ImDisk fails when formated as FAT in PE, so, no, I won't be using it just yet.

downloaded fresh copy. keep getting boot error cannot find file \boot\boot.bin. tried both bcdw and regular makeiso. get same error. using xpsp2 rtm as source. tried 2003 eval copy. always get same error. frusty.gif

please help
