powerusers guide to vmdks
I have summed up a lot of the stuff I wrote earlier about vmdks
and the special procedures I use when recovering data from broken virtual machines.

It is maybe 1/5 done but is already quite large.
It does not go very deep into the technical details yet - as already mentioned it is work in progress -
but I am sure it already can be a life saviour for desparate users who think they lost their data.

Hope it is useful

Ulli

[SPLIT] from Index of USB Boot Making ....
Maanu - thanks for the nice list - very useful.
Do you have a special reason to wrap links in code-tags ?

VMware Workstation on portable USB-disk with Linux64
Hi
I am looking for some folks that are interested in testing a 64 Bit Linux portable USB-disk with VMware Workstation and Converter 4.0.1.

If you are interested you need a 64 bit host or VM and a spare USB-disk / or virtual disk

Converter 4 - coldclone-mode
Sorry sad.gif - with Converter 3.0.3 we could use the starter edition to use the Coldclone-mode with PE.
With Converter 4 this no longer works.

Enterprise customers of VMware can download a Coldclone CD which comes with a version of Converter 4 that can do cold-clone-mode.
This version can also be used with different PEs.
Instructions how to load Converter on demand are here
Only tested with MOA.
With little adjustments it should work on different PE-builds as well

Not a mad scientist as he usually calls himself, but rather a person who looks way beyond what he can see from this point. Your ideas are just great, I wish good luck with your all your developments and life. :)
