Everyone knows the BSOD and it's noble sounding first sentence, where they claim to shut the OS down to protect your computer. Right?

Well look what dangerous threat to my computer was found!

This test is not done with Peters latest version!!! So it might be already solved to some extend.

First point is, how verbose those little suckers are!

Everything i erased contained Data from the building machine. (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/thumbdown.gif)

The first 6 shortcuts were created by my shortcut Test script and not with API or Buildmodel.

Worth noting here is also that most sport C:\ in their path. (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/confused1.gif)

Not weird enough for you? Ok.

Pay attention to the two Mitec shortcuts!
Mitec File Analyzer is the only shortcut which looks exactly like it should, while Mitec Systeminformation screws up again.
Though not as bad as CD-Opera. (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

The clou is, that both Mitec shortcuts were created by the exact same command! (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/confused1.gif)
----------------------------------------------
[variables]
%ProgramTitle%=MiTeC File Analyzer
%ProgramEXE%=WFA.exe
%ProgramFolder%=MiTeC

I would be very thankful, if the gods of api and buildmodel can explain this to me!!!

As far as i read, it is possible to start the theming service in a PE, it just won't kick in, because it waits in vain for the signal to start doing it's job.

- Has anyone done any research into this kinda thing?
- Has anyone any information on the topic he would like to share?
- Can anyone see potential problems, if the theming would kick in right from the start, without needing to be enabled?

PS: Does anyone know of a freeware way to skin the taskbar?

Do you love how Vista looks, but hate how Vista works?

The solution up to this point was to use WindewBlinds on Xp. But WB is not free, which is a big no-no for many, especialy for use in one of our PEs.

Now there's a nice freeware alternative. http://www.lee-soft.com/

PS: Maybe even interesting for our WAIK cowboys. (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Thanks for solving the fixed drive letter riddle with XP SP2 - I've been seeing it as an unsolved puzzle for 3 years up to now..
You're really talented, congratulations!
