mounting VirtualBox vdi file?
I have VirtualBox 1.6.0, host is Windows XP (on NTFS) and guest is Windows XP (on FAT32). After installign ImDisk I gone inside the folder with the xp.vdi virtual disk, right clicked it and mounted it. (Also did try to chose harddisk manually.)

It will mount the disk but Windows on host is asking to format the disk. So somehow I think it isn`t correctly mounted.

What can be wrong?

missing MBR-helper

I installed Windows XP on a VMware virtual disk with NTFS. From NT bootloader (boot.ini) I could start a well working grub4dos....

So I made another virtuel Windows XP and this time I used FAT32 (fast) format for the XP installer. This time I am getting missing MBR-helper? (With grubinst-1.1-bin-w32-2008-01-01.zip and grub4dos directly in MBR it`s also working, but I want to start from NT bootloader.)

What`s the problem? How can I solve it?

Someone occured strange behavior when booted with grub4dos?
(1) start grub4dos
(2) chainload kernel.sys

Anyone ever encountered any differences compared to the result when booting FreeDOS directly?

Or someone can confirm that it`s exactly the same boot method and there can be no difference?

howto install directly on USB?
Currently I know only to make my USB flash drive bootable with FreeDOS and then start grub4dos.

But how can I get grub4dos directly into mbr without FreeDOS?

fdisk -l
mkdosfs -F16 /dev/sdb1
./bootlace.com /dev/sdb1

does not work. Invalid partition table. And --floppy also doesn`t work.

Did you ever use an online translator to post in chinese forum? (grub4dos forum)
Reading works well, but posting? Will this be understandable?
