Dear All,

I have a very strange behavior with an own created VPE based on the c't project.

During the boot of the VPE CD the system searchs for the menu.lst file (or I believe the CD searchs
for it?) but instead of taking the exiting menu.lst from the CD (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) , the CD searchs my HDDs for an
exiting menu.lst what the CD finaly finds. (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/frusty.gif) Which is of course is the wrong menu.lst file. The menu
is diplayed accordingly wrong Grub4DOS but menu.lst from openSUSE.
(I am using a multiboot system with a openSUSE grub for selecting following systems.

  • openSuse 11
  • Windows Vista 64bit (truecrypt)
  • Windows Vista 32 (truecrypt)
  • Leopard

How could I force the CD to look at CD first instead on the HDD? At the moment I am not able to
boot the CD with this settings.

Thanks for the help.

Best Regards

Ana

well, very interesting bug, i am sorry to say that i do not know a solution....maybe you also post this question in the rub4dos sub forum...

also you can try to update the grldr (from the latest beta http://nufans.net/grub4dos/) . to do this use wb and delete the attached grldr from the grub4dos script and then add the latest one again...then build again...

Which grub4dos version is it?

Check this:
http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=6775
http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?...c=6775&st=5

You should get why that happens and possibly fix the problem. (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hi,

thanks, for the replies.

Here also something that I have found out in the meanwhile whic is breacking my head.

If I mount the ISO with VMWare directly to a CD Rom everything works fine, as son I burn it
the issue described above happens.

Really strange!

Version
GRUB4DOS 0.4.4

the 4.4 versions are beta, so you need to gove the date too (display besides the version number)...did you try latest beta? And did you read what jaclaz suggested (all of it!)?

Hi All,

I have read all the inscrutions in the posts from jaclaz

Based on that I have modified the grldr file as following

CODE
default 0
timeout 1
fallback 1

title find /menu.lst
    find --set-root --ignore-floppies /menu.lst
    configfile /menu.lst

title find /boot/grub/menu.lst
    fallback 2
    find --set-root --ignore-floppies /boot/grub/menu.lst
    configfile /boot/grub/menu.lst

title find /grub/menu.lst
    fallback 3
    find --set-root --ignore-floppies /grub/menu.lst
    configfile /grub/menu.lst

title commandline
    commandline

title reboot
    reboot

title halt
    halt

With other words I have deleted

CODE
--ignore-cd

from the internal grub menu.lst

Result now it seems to be working! (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I will test it in more PC's now!!

Thanks a lot!!! (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/roll1.gif)
