Hello everyone,

I am a newbie to this, but also a technical person.

Here is what I did (as basic as I could get):
  • I installed WinBuilder to C:\WinBuilder.
  • Specified source as H:\XPSP2\ (from MSDN SP2 original disk)
  • Did a recommended Download of files.
  • Ran the XP LiveCD script.

It seems to run all of the scripts fine until it gets to the Build DPs Mass Storage Script which produces the error:
X DirDelete - Failed to delete directory [%BaseDir%\Workbench\Common\DPs\MassStorage\decompression]
! Halt

The code is as follows (as was recommended as a solution in another thread):
CODE
If,ExistDir,"%GlobalTemplates%\DPs\MassStorage\decompression",DirDelete,"%GlobalTemplates%\DPs\MassStorage\decompression"

Here are the specs:
  • WinBuilder 075 beta 5
  • MSDN unaltered WinXPSP2 source files
  • WinXPSP3 OS

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance

I suspect something is accessing a file or the directory under which the deletion is attempted. Eg on-access virus scan etc.

I dislike how the WB default is now to halt everything on an error rather than attempt to continue the build, which may or may not have been successful (in your case it would have been successful). You may disable the feature under 'Tools > Options'.

Galapo.

Thanks for the reply.

I disabled AV and SAS (in fact disabled almost everything on startup to be as clean as possible), but same exact error. I dont know if this means anything as it seems pretty common in the forums. During the Verify Project script, !WBVerify.Script, I receive the following output:

CODE
Generated by psc program 'WBVerify' version 2.2.0
Date: 2008-Oct-07 12:50:49

[Counts]
Missing=0
Obsolete=0
Errors=0
Warnings=4

Warnings:
Problem with line: Call "WBVersion" (Build Model,075);
Problem with line: Call "WBVersion" (Copy and Expand files,071.03);
Problem with line: Call "WBVersion" (ImDisk,071.03);
Problem with line: Call "WBVersion" (Explorer,071.03);

Any other ideas/suggestions?

Can i just remove that line from the code? Won't it just leave that folder as-is and I can manually delete it later? I will try playing around with it some more in the meantime, and report back it I get it working.

Thanks,
-gooroo

That's a glitch with WBVerify at the moment. It doesn't seem to be occurring with nativeEx but does occur with LiveXP. Peter will hopefully work out what's happening and post an update for the script. Until then, ignore the warnings as you're using a newer version of WB than what you're being "warned" about.

Galapo.

Thanks for the info.

I turned off Stop Build on Error, and everything worked just fine. The error is still there, but I got my first successful recommended and complete builds, and checking them out right now.

i tried a lot
i download a fresh recommended version of livexp with wb75b5
i could not reproduce neither 'WBVerify' nor 'DirDelete - Failed to delete directory' errors !?!!

ps: also tried with host: WinXPSP3eng OS (source is always xpsp2eng in trials)

Gooroo, can you extract this file to c:\ , and try to make a build?

I did exactly as you said and received the same error. I attached the log.

It seems like one of the files in the decompression directory is still active while the delete is trying to be performed. Is there a scripting command I can add before the delete to have it wait for 5 seconds or something to see if maybe the process will finish up before it attempts to delete the folder? or is there another command I can substitute for the delete command which will delete each file individually and sequentially so we can see exactly which file is causing the problem? (like the cmd rd /s /q x:\mydir command)

Gooroo

it is not much important to learn the file, problem is common to me and reported many times as i have same issue in many scripts, and i make my solutions (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Problem is, 'shellexecute' command of winbuilder dont work as precise as 'start /wait' command. So sth remains in taskmanager causing this issue. As i am the only one who mostly complains about this and as it is not much reproducable, we still live with it. Interestingly I dont have this issue with OfflineSysPrep and DPs-Build_MassStorageDrivers yet, but you having this issue with those scripts is no surprise to me (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Anyway, i would ask you to make a test if you agree
-delete C:\wb folder and extract the file i posted previously to C:\
-Replace 2 files with the ones below
http://lancelot.winbuilder.net/5F/20081007...rageDrivers.rar
http://lancelot.winbuilder.net/5F/20081007...lineSysPrep.rar
-make the build (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I am not sure about the solution, galapo is the master of livexp project and writer of these scripts. If you have success i may have an offer!

If it helps, my specs are:
HP 6715b
AMD Turion Dual Core 2.2GHz
4GB 667 MHz DDR SDRAM
160 GB 7200 rpm SATA

So... lancelot you have an offer? I am willing to help AMAP.

I am glad to read that (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

ah sorry for my bad english, 'offer' was to galapo, maybe 'idea' is better to write for proper english. (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (offer~idea)

Gooroo, changes i made MUST be confirmed by galapo since they are really very temporary solutions and i dont know these scripts well, i am not sure if i did sth wrong by modifying these scripts.
SO please keep an eye on this topic till Galapo post a message.

Galapo:
These are changes i made,
OfflineSysPrep.rar
i cancelled one line from [Add_MassStorage] section
// If,ExistDir,"%GlobalTemplates%\DPs\MassStorage\decompression",DirDelete,"%GlobalTemplates%\DPs\MassStorage\decompression"
and added one line to the top of [process] section
If,ExistDir,"%GlobalTemplates%\DPs\MassStorage\decompression",DirDelete,"%GlobalTemplates%\DPs\MassStorage\decompression"

DPs-Build_MassStorageDrivers.rar
i cancelled one line from [Build-Script] section
// If,ExistDir,"%GlobalTemplates%\DPs\MassStorage\decompression",DirDelete,"%GlobalTemplates%\DPs\MassStorage\decompression"
and added one line to the top of [process] section
If,ExistDir,"%GlobalTemplates%\DPs\MassStorage\decompression",DirDelete,"%GlobalTemplates%\DPs\MassStorage\decompression"

As i wrote before, i dont know these scripts well and i am not sure if sth missing or not.

Also, I made a similar fix with PENetwork.script
at the top of PENetwork.script there exist this line:
If,ExistFile,"%TempDir%\PENetwork.exe",FileDelete,"%TempDir%\PENetwork.exe"
so i cancelled line
//FileDelete,"%TempDir%\PENetwork.exe"
to avoid similar error (i saved logs when this happened but as you know i decide not to report this kind of issue anymore)

offer-idea is, as you already know i got similar methods to avoid this kind of problem, another method i never tried is why not use a batch file with 'start /wait' command instead of shellexecute, or maybe creating a .cmd file and shellexecute,open, ..cmd .
You are the master, you know better (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
