i never needed .net framework 2.0 on my old bartpe, or now with livexp.
as far as i know it occupy a huge space (uncompressed 200mb i guess)
but it would be fun if there exists, so i wonder the answer too (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

developer, which applications you need to run with .net framework 2.0 ?

Hi Developer, welcome to the community.

There is a .net script for VistaPE that was made by Max Real QNX inside the App scripts section.

Don't think there is one for LiveXP already, maybe you could get your hands on this feature? (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

Yes, reading the code it seems to run well under winbuilder 075 as well.

You only need to run the config program that is included on the plugin to copy the files of .NET from the host computer.

Maybe Colin is available for a port, or perhaps some member around here would be able to add this feature? (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

It is really not required to add dotnet2 at build-time.
It is so much more convenient to add it after boot - this only works with a ramloading build with NTFS formatted X:
See how I do that in MOA

Well.. it's certainly easier but not much fun having to reinstall it on every boot.. (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

In either case, I've sent an email to Colin requesting a port to app script.

Who says that I do so ?
Once you have the files together you can speed-install it - using a single reg-patch - that takes only a few seconds (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

What would happens to OCX/DLL files needed to register and services needed to install?

Wouldn't it be needed to reboot in some cases? (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) (not likely needed on this .NET but as a general approach)

XPE worked this way and ended resulting in several minutes waiting for everything to be installed. If you notice on LiveXP - no such time lags happen because the programs are already fully installed on build time and boot time improved a lot.

-------

Oh well, both methods are valid and can be used - I personally prefer to see all installed inside than waiting or having extra work to prepare these install packages manually.

No problem - I don't have to do any of this.

I just run a batch that mounts a wim - makes some junctions and applies one reg-patch. As said all in a matter of seconds.
That works very nicely - the wim is about 70-80 Mbs and can be located where ever.

Especially with dotnet2 I would not like to include it statically in my builds. Why would you load it all the time ?
I just load it when I actually need it.

You have to do this once anyway - so it is no extra work
