Q.How many Microsoft programmers does it take to screw in a light bulb?

A.None. They just declare darkness to be the standard.

(IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/roll1.gif)

That is true..

[VERY off topic]

To be picky, (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) they would state that darkness is by design:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/147373/en-us
(they could have also have disabled the light switch to prevent you from pressing it accidentally):
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/135673/en-us

ain some cases a hotfix is available, though you should use it only if you are not severely affected by this, otherwise you may want to wait for next ServicePack:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941137/en-us

Moreover the darkness problem might affect the working of Barney:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/172653/en-us

However, they are unable to change a light bulb because they have more interesting things to do, like misdefining measure conversions:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/189826/en-us
or writing real troubleshooting articles:
http://...om/?kbid=152697

and besides, changing a light bulb is a lengthy process, you would need to remove and re-insert it between six and 12 times
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320554/en-us

However, they can always say "it's the Devil that does it"...:
http://...om/?kbid=178748

Maybe this topic should be moved to 'Museum' (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/yahoo.gif)

I remember the question from DOS 6.2 times (around 198?)

#2 is correct: (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/wheelchair.gif)
As Sample see Vista:
  • How can we help our friend Intel to sell Dual CPUs
  • How can we help our friends Intel and others to sell their memory chips
  • How can we help our friend Intel to sell his '64' chipsets
  • how can we help all of our 'Logo' friends
Let us offer an OS which has not really new features, but gives us more possibilities to monitor the user and let him make busines with our friends!
And let's make this OS w/o any user's choice as the standard OS of every new selled PC!

Maybe you want to have a look at http://badvista.fsf.org

Allow me to add a german joke about the same theme.

To explain:
In the northern part of Germany there live the 'Ostfriesen' and these people are the target of many jokes (all of the jokes assume they all are fools).
BTW: The jokes about Ostfriesen are invented by a company, which got the order to make Ostfriesland (where the Ostfriesen live) more popular for tourists.

Similar question:
How many Ostfriesen are necessary to screw in a light bulb?

Answer:
At least three are needed.
One to hold the bulb.
The others have to turn the chair where the first one is standing on.

In Russia it's "How many cops..." (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
The number is 9:
One standing on the table holding the bulb in the socket.
4 rotate the table walking in circle.
4 walk around in opposit direction to prevent 1st one from getting dizzy.

PS
Thanks, jaclaz!
I enjoyed the titles from your MS references:
"Remove All Does Not Remove Everything"
"PowerPoint Centimeters Different from Actual Centimeters"
Pretty good characterization of "MS-Style" (IMG:../forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

To improve its usability, PowerPoint slightly misdefines the size of a centimeter ...
...
The only problem with this slight misdefinition of size is that the actual measurements you are making are off by six percent.
