Recently I uploaded a screensaver to the nativepe server and discovered it was being recognized as a script file by wb. It said it was by the boot-land community, the generic descriptor. Actually, I noticed wb handled this extension some time ago but never thought on it until now.

Nuno, can you tell us exactly what file extensions winbuilder will handle as script files? Aside from .txt, is .scr the only other extension we may use for scripts? I seem to remember discovering some other(s) by accident previously but cannot recall what they were, thx.
For now I plan to cab the screensaver as a 'fix', which would leave the file with a .sc_ suffix. That should work.

Well,
I'll post details on that one ..

I just did a little test using winbuilder v72a as the guinea pig, changing the extension on a script several times.

I started from the top to see what was going on.

.s was recognized as a winbuilder .script file
.sc was recognized as a winbuilder .script file
.scr was recognized as a winbuilder .script file
.scri was recognized as a winbuilder .script file
( assumes the remainder )
next test,
.sx was not recognized as a winbuilder .script file
.scrx was not recognized as a winbuilder .script file
.scriptx was not recognized as a winbuilder .script file

That about summed it up.
".s", ".script", and everything in between will be loaded.

While ".scr" seems the perfect abbreviation, it's used as the system scrsaver extension. We have a few other extensions to choose from though if script authors wish to keep some data away from novice users. (IMG:http://www.boot-land.net/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
