Boot Land _ WinBuilder _ Converting Older 050 Scripts

Posted by: rrrh1 Sep 24 2007, 01:18 PM

I have some programs I made scripts for when I was using 050-053 of the project.

What do I need to do to convert them to work properly with 072a ?

When I try to use them I get a BSOD...

Can the PicoXP be built with XP-SP2 sources in any way like I could with the older project ?

Thanks !

I didn't know exactly where this should go if it needs moved, do so.

There were a lot of changes indeed but do post the code of the scripts that you need converted and I'll try to help you catch up with the changes.. smile.gif

Besides some ideological changes a few variables were thrown out, but that was ages ago.
Maybe Nuno still remembers which.
But in general, the best idea would be to compare an old 053 script with it's updated counterpart.

Let's see it technically:I suggest:
Build your project with the latest WinBuilder version and post the log (containing many errors ...) here.
The more experienced forum members can tell you what to cahnge.

BTW (I would like to help here, too. But I'm in vacation for two weeks from tomorrow morning).

I an going to unpack the old scripts, and try rewriting them from scratch.

I have "drip Internet" dialup so downloading large files or watching a video tutorial is pretty well out of the question...

I have downloaded 072a, and the LiveXP recommended files took almost 5 hours.

I quit testing and building in September 2006, but the disk I built then won't work with the new laptop.

I need to add a sata driver...

Thanks !

A zipped PicoXP log should be remarkably below size of 100 kB!

I am sorry if I have anyone confused.

This was a 2 part problem:

1.) Converting old scripts from version 050 - 053 to version 072a and

2.) Can a PicoXP be built with windows XP-SP2 sources ?

Problem:

1.) has been taken care of, rewrote the scripts from scratch and

2.) has not really been answered.

I know 050 Winbuilder is ancient history here, but you could replace 2 files:

1.) ramdisk.sys

and

2.) setupldr.bin

from Windows 2003, and build with XP sources.

I guess the best way to answer the question is just to try it and see what happens.

Thanks !

When updating old scripts, the 1st thing I do is..
Run a search for the string "Archive", this is a folder that was dropped, so, you must elliminate any occurrence of it for starters. I use XFind.

Looks like I am the one confused !!

Windows 2003 sources only needed if you want to use the RANBoot script.

Thanks !

If you do manage to update the old scripts. If you can. Upload them for others to use. Thanks!

They are rather simple !

1.) Terabyte Unlimited Image for Windows

http://terabyteunlimited.com/imagew.html

2.) Drive Snapshot

http://www.drivesnapshot.de/en/down.htm

3.) GHOST 8

http://www.symantec.com/business/products/purchasing.jsp?pcid=2247&pvid=865_1

I think it is now version 12.

This is the most complicated one...

Never got it to burn cd's properly anyway...

Anyone want to try these, they are based off of the BartPE originals.

Hope you understand why I can't distribute the scripts.

hmm.. I see.

You just need to post their code, not the the embedded files.

If you're unsure how to do it - try making a backup copy of your scripts and then remove all files using the attachments tab - this way it's completely legal to publish them here.
