HI

Someone explain to me what are the two volume images included in the boot.wim file of the DVD of Vista SP1?

What is the first volume image that is started when the DVD of Vista SP1 is running the boot?

THANKS

One *.wim can (and here does) contain multiple images for different purposes.

When mounting the*.wim, you have to define the index of the image to use.

I do not know why and how, but the indexes for boot.wim (2) and install.wim (1) seem to be found by the author(s) as relevant for the purposes used here.

Just run:

imagex /info <wim file>

Will give you details of each image in the wim file. So for example on win7 install.wim you get:

1 - Windows 7 Starter
2 - Windows 7 Home Basic
3 - Windows 7 Home Premium
4 - Windows 7 Professional
5 - Windows 7 Ultimate

boot.wim:

1 - Microsoft Windows PE (x86)
2 - Microsoft Windows Setup (x86)
