At 911cd, a chinese user is having a lot of difficulty in expressing a bug that he found on the explorer script.

Here is the rough google translation:
QUOTE
I used items are LIVEXP

I found in dealing with winbuilder 76 RegWrite instruction should not deal with the correct value of the Chinese double quotation marks,

For example, RegWrite, HKLM, "0x1", "WB-Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Tips", "10", "use the mouse to drag the taskbar can be moved to either side of the screen."

To enter the PE system, the use of regedit received key Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Tips The value is with the mouse and drag the taskbar can be moved to either side of the screen. "

Finally pay attention to the many side of a double-quotation marks, the problem in the script does not log.html reflected

Hope you can understand my bad English, I am sorry

I don't have many clues regarding what is wrong, maybe it seems clearer for Galapo or other script developers.

I'll have a guess.

The RegWrite command doesn't work because yscong's translation of the tip into Chinese results in some Chinese characters being interpreted as double quotation marks.

yscong may be suggesting to use regedit and a .reg with the Chinese writing, rather than RegWrite?

Could be but I don't know either, maybe we could get in contact with a native language speaker?

Here we have a general 'lack of functionality' in WinBuilder.

Currently WinBuilder handles arguments of the RegWrite command as STRINGS, that is a sequence of BYTES ended by a binary zero.
If the argument is something 'regular' (two 'possible ANSI displayable characters') everything is ok.
But as soon as one of the two bytes is 'something special', like a binary 0, or a comma, or a quote, or ...) WinBuilder reacts according this 'special char'.

And that is usually not what the user assumes to happen.

This issue can be solved only by introducing a REAL UNICODE handling in WinBuilder.
(And as known, in Delphi there are still a lot of Unicode lacks).

Good answer, it would make perfect sense to explain the mentioned error.

I've placed a link to your reply back at the respective topic on 911cd.
