Right now we have the choice between autosave or the old behaviour.

I suggested to have the choice between autosave and the default way all other programs work.
Giving the user a save button and a warning when the exit button is pressed, without saving changes.

Peter agreed to implement the 'new' solution, but only if 25 members vote with yes!

So this is the poll for that! wink.gif

I doubt dubbio.gif you'll get a number of votes (positive or negative) on this poll unless you better explain what is the object.

The topic seems, to me at least, "advanced level", whilst you should address a wider audience, not only the few .script developers or advanced users. unsure.gif

the poll irritates me...if i say yes does it mean leave as is, or does yes mean change?

@jaclaz
There's no point in pulling in a wider audience since the feature is in the sourcecode editor.
Why should people, who do not use it, care? Even if we would decide to throw the whole editor out, they wouldn't mind.

@ctmag
The poll question is. "I'm in favor of the new default save mechanism."
So yes means new. Which means change!

If the question is somehow unclear, please provide one that suits better.

To make the discussion shorter:

I changed the autosave option from boolean to enum with the options
  • On
  • Off
  • Ask
It works. Save button is visible on the Off option.

Making the next chage in this topic will need a poll with 250 agreements tongue.gif

Sure smile.gif, what I was trying to hint was that probably psc tricked you w00t.gif into a lose-lose situation as there are no more than 25 people (including Peter poke.gif ) that use the feature.

To this kind of insidiousness, a possible solution would have been to induce a number of people who never used (and never will rolleyes.gif ) the feature to vote for you devil.gif by making the poll a little more explicit and word the question in such a way that a number of good willing (but actually unaware of what it means) users will vote in favour of your proposal.

This is what generally happens in "real world" polls and surveys......

Tricking me? Never! showoff.gif laugh.gif

Peter, i'm not sure i understand you right.

on - autosave, no button, no asking
off- no autosave, button, no asking
ask - no autosave, no button, asking

If true, i was asking for this:

on - autosave, no button, no asking
off - no autosave, button, asking (for the absend minded professor)
