The data used in Registry is the Disk Signature and (part of) the DATA.

is in some manner not completely true. Read your pm and give me a confirm, before I affirm a bestiality on here.

I am afraid you'll need to trust my word for it.
It seems like in some cases, read here:
http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?sho...1242&st=142
it is possible to boot with different signatures or with two different checksums, but there are not definite reports.

p.s.
I repeat the question
is there a chat, a mirc where iteract in real mode?

NO.

About PM, the XP3SD (that can be found here):
http://www.dedrisproject.com/blog/tutorial...sd-utility.html
as it's home page:
http://www.3eportal.com/index.php?option=c...16&Itemid=1
has a suspended account,
It appears to be an interesting thingy, didn't know it, thanks for pointing it out. smile.gif

Cache of relevant page is here:
http://web.archive.org/web/20080112144739/...14&Itemid=9
derived from this:
http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=1433
that derives from this:
http://www.ngine.de/index.jsp?pageid=4176
which derives from the original thread by Dietmar (with minor contributions from yours truly wink.gif):
http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=14181

There is another known-to-be-working automated method:
http://www.usboot.org/tiki-index.php

There is no "need", and again you will need to trust my word for it unsure.gif for cfadisk.sys or dummydisk.sys.

Actually cfadisk and dummydisk were found:
http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=14292
http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?sho...181&st=1954
well AFTER booting XP from USB "became" possible.

Unless you need Windows Update working or want to use a multipartitioned stick, there is no need for them, though a multipartitioned stick gives some advantages:
http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=21572
http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?...ic=5397&hl=

There are a number of apps that may behave "strangely" when a Filter Driver is installed.

But the "real thing" is using the Manufacturer Utility to "flip" the Removable bit once and for all. wink.gif
http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=15776

A number of such utilities are collected in a quite accessible to Western eyes Russian page:
http://www.flashboot.ru/index.php?name=iflash

I know that it may be an "overload" of data, but you may need to learn a bit of Chinese (or - easier wink.gif - use extensively google translate and some - read LOTS - of imagination):
http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=4661

You can use Chipgenius just to identify your chip and then search on the Russian page before attempting a Chinese search.....happy22.gif

I know I am stressing you, but you can realize my entusiasm, like a child, to discover so many infos on booting xp from other supports

well, so it is a evidence that, almost in my case I can boot with different signature and different checksum from mbr and data stored in system, but it is just a strange behaviour.

Happy to have pointed you on xp3esd and I know perfectly it cames from the original Dietmar, just saying that it is an automated tool.

Really i found another 3 d on etechs

http://www.etechs.it/installare-windows-xp...-usb-di-nuovo//

where it is explained how to install a usb - frindly xp on a usb without even passing on hard disk.
It worked for me!!!

I would show you my bookmarks on argument, just say is quite a big file containing several pages on the argument.

well I think we can considerate closed this tread on strange mbr and focus on the usb since I made some tests but I don't go further from bootin the cd, loading usb chainloadin, loading xp until here is all ok, loading the white stripes bar and tha hanging there!!!

If you want you can close this if useless.

Thanks, Fabio

That's exactly the point of why I love public boards, it may be useless now and for you, but it may become useful to someone else in the future.

What would have remained of a friendly, private, "chat"? unsure.gif

Oh, might be I was misanderstood.. I meant a" public chat " as some channels on irc where we coul have reached the same conclusion without waiting to post on forum, read topic etc etc, but I absolutely agree about the utility of a public board where one can " bootstrap " an idea fron another one idea, lol.
Pardon If i was not clear in explaing my concept.

well I'm working now on understanding what wrong with my booting process and why the pc starts from the cd and hangs on the white stripes bar

How can i follow the things going under in live cd mode? On reactos I builded a rs 232 cable an in hyperterminal posted some results to the board.
Or how can i block the grub process since it tells me that the block is bigger than...................................... and then goes on, lol

Use command line grub4dos, REMOVE menu.lst or add a command line entry to it, or press c really, really quick.

See here for some reference/examples:
