So you have a working LiveXP which you've successfully transferred to USB but some issues with NIC detection, right?

Yes.

Can I assume the NIC (same machine) was detected successfully booting (same project) from other media?

No.

I tried it last night using a cd but it didn't load the nic cards.

OK, so do this:
1) Start over with a fresh (non-run) project folder (delete existing build and re-extract sfx just like before).

2) Open WinBuilder but don't run it, go to a tool called MyNIC in the script tree:

3) Click Run and you will see a window like this; confirm you see your NIC listed at top and click Make Script

Attached Image

4) You'll see some text generated like this and then close the tool interface and WinBuilder.

5) Go to the folder where your new driver script is created:

6) Copy it to your new projects Network Driver folder here:

7) Open WinBuilder again and before running confirm your new script is selected in the script tree

8) Run the project as before and test your NIC in PE smile.gif

I followed your instructions and burned the cd, still cannot get it to worked. I still can't connect to the internet using opera, no network devices listed on my network, I run ipconfig /all and nothing listed. mad.gif

This is the log that was generated after the build,
I hope you can help me with this information. I really want this to work,
because this will help me a lot. sad.gif

BTW, I have a "Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet".Script NIC

OK, don't get mad.gif - it looks like you have a NIC that's not going to cooperate so easily dry.gif

First, update PENetwork here to latest version; replace existing script in %baseDir%\Projects\LiveXP\Apps\Internet

Then take a look at this thread to see if similar issue or possible fix. Lancelot knows more about this issue than I do; I don't have access to a NIC like this, all my machines work using instruction I gave you above. Also, take a look at this thread here to see if this fits. Hopefully others can add support if necessary; maybe someone who has this same NIC can help with solution.

al-jo72, i have nothing to add to what amalux already said.
But would you please NOT quote whole posts!!! realmad.gif
It makes the topic harder to read, besides being completely pointless!

al-jo72:
click "add a reply" instead of "reply to post" (or in other words, click "post repy" instead of "reply" , skin difference smile.gif )

Else like MedEvil wrote, Quote only parts you wanna emphasize. (like written in my signature smile.gif )

Going back to subject,
If you know how to make systemdrive (X:\) writeable by either bootsdi or fbwf method, it will be easy for you to make trials with "Driver Import PE" to make tests to see which driver you have working properly, so you can add this drivers manually (there should be a mini tutorial around) after seeing they are working fine. amalux topic is for using BootSDI smile.gif.

Reminding getting drivers from host once failed because of a wrong setup of drivers to system. Johannes Installed his lan drivers 2 times with mixing things on windows resulting a working network on windows but a pain in ass for utilities like mynic, which was one part of Johannes problem, other part was Johannes using nvidia lan driver which is not the case here. Both problem solved smile.gif.

So far i know we have a good reputation on many PE about ethernet (0 tolerance smile.gif ), if there is a problem highly probably it may be fixed smile.gif.

ps: amalux, do you have a tutorial to show how to add drivers by penetwork manually, we now have "open drv" button too so adding drivers manually is easier and maybe more trustable for this case. (sorry if this was tried before). You know I am very busy now with organising.

Thanks Lancelot!

@al-jo72,

I'll upload a project package for you with all the updates and tools you need for these tests and a mini-tutorial on adding drivers when I get home this afternoon (unless you've got it working by then) wink.gif

OK, so here's an updated build with the tools you need for testing/installing drivers.

First you'll want to backup your host driver(s) with SmartDriverBU like this:

Run the program and select View --> View all drivers and de-select all but the one(s) you need and save these to your to hdd.
Attached Image

In your new project folder, create a sub-directory* in %GlobalTemplates% named PENetwork (ex. C:\lx012209cxs\Workbench\Common\PENetwork) and copy your driver backup there:
Attached Image

*As Lancelot just reminded me, If you run wb and go to PEN's script ui, there is a cool feature now called Explore
Attached Image

that auto-magically creates this folder for you and opens it so you can just drag/drop your driver folder(s) in the open window! Very cool thumbup.gif - I'm all for removing any semblance of thinking required by the user laugh.gif I just wish it would find the needed drivers and copy them there as well tongue.gif - Seriously, this is pretty darn cool and don't forget, one of the great unsung features of PEN is that it will load any type of drivers here not just NIC's.

When the project is run, any drivers in this folder should be auto-detected and installed by PENetwork wink.gif

--
Alternately, you can try installing from PE using DriverImportPE (included in build):

Run the program and choose import from folder (.inf) method
Attached Image

Browse to your driver backup and select the .inf (can be the one in %GlobalTemplates%)
Attached Image

If the driver shows good, just click Import Driver and wait for final result.
Attached Image

After DriverImportPE wraps up, you'll need to run PENetwork (in quicklaunch) and hopefully get an active connection, you can test in Opera. Good luck! smile.gif
