I hope DP have success, i just tested installing nvidia 8500gt graphics driver from host OS (xp32), success. I hope ati problem will be solved soon.
ps: i disable "universal driver script" during trials (i never use it anymore).

Yep, me too. I wish I could have provided this feedback to Kare earlier, I just ran out of time the last week to do proper testing.

I tried with and without the xpepnp script but still bsod.

Glad you like the idea of a shell-starter. But it could be a bit of work as resource limits would also need to be disabled by his app then. A timeout of, say, five seconds would be needed in case an abort of driver installation is needed (ati graphics card would be a reason at the moment).

Regards,
Galapo.

@Galapo

+ another idea
can you download scripts from here
enable only DriverForge_y_Graphics_A_DPS.script
put required DP_Graphics_A_wnt5_x86-32_8102.7z file to \DriverForge_y_Graphics_A_DPS_Files\ folder

drforge .7z method 195mb on B:\ , or you can choose harddisk instead when installing.

drforge and dipe have same effect with nv 8500gt with my system. But as you know they are different. Better to test.

Good luck

edit: ps: DP_Graphics before DP_Graphics_A_wnt5_x86-32_8102.7z may cause the issue you have.

Hi Lancelot,

I have to eat with family soon, then bath them etc. Not sure after that if I'll get time to test tonight, but will definitely tomorrow.

Ftp issues persist, so test new SetResolution from here if you like.

Galapo.

@Kare
For video driver installation, to avoid the glitch which Lancelot mentions above, Driver Import PE should make a ChangeDisplaySettings CDS_RESET call after the device is fully installed. For now, the new version of SetResolution is detecting new primary device change and initiates the call. However, for PE running without SetResolution, Driver Import PE should also make the call so that the system is fully adjusted to the new driver.

Regards,
Galapo.

progress with SetResolution, but still some more thing needed.
i disable "default to highest supported res", if enabled it cause 2048 x 1536 window in the end of the test which i dont want.

Here is test:

after adding nvidia 8500gt with dipe, i get this screen :
http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/4918/20...03101533ee4.png
probably "CDS_RESET call" makes this (and it is good, with previous test i make manual clicks to come this screen)

i waited a long a long time, nothing changed
so i open "Display Properties" window and choose settings at the top:
http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/6166/20...03101609cp3.png

after i open "Display Properties" settings window, screen instantly blinks and after waiting 5 seconds blink again without doing anything. This happens:
http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/2250/20...03101633sk6.png
I press "cancel" and close "Display Properties" window. Everything works.

Only to show you the result, i open "Display Properties"-Settings window again
http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/9596/20...03101657mi6.png

only an idea, maybe "CDS_RESET call" needed 2 times ???

@galapo

just for info, these are plugins that i enable, and nvidia 8500gt works

Lancelot,

Try adding fixed resolution you desire on SetResolution script if you don't want highest resolution set. What happens? Much the same as you indicate above, or something else?

Thanks,
Galapo.

as i wrote before, i already disabled "default to highest supported res" in SetResolution script, it is fixed to 1024x768

Result is exactly the same with my previous post. At least dipe installs my gpu driver and with this trick it works wink.gif
