Hello,

I have been using Winbuilder 074 here at work. With newer version of VistaPE v12 needing Winbuilder 075, I downloaded beta 4 to a different test machine. When I try and connect to the servers to download I don't get a connection. I am wondering if the connection method was changed from 074 to 075 beta. (I can still connect on using 074). If so, can you tell me in what way so I can possibly work with my network and security folks here at work to allow me to connect using 075.

Thanks for all the great work you guys do,

Phatboy

Yes, It has been changed from IE-Explorer API to Indy functions.

Can you tell us your constellation (firewall etc.) in order to see what can be done.

If your company uses a firewall with allowed applications, maybe it is sufficient to only include WinBuilder.exe in the list.

Thanks again Peter for your help but my Team Leader doesn't want me to talk with the networking folks about the issue so I will just have to download the files from home and bring them into work. I like the tool and I will continue using it this way for now. Maybe things will change later and they will let me talk to the network folks.

Thank you again. You guys are always helpful when I post questions.

Hi Phatboy,

We've talked about cases like yours that might occur from this modification on 075.

The removal of the IE dependency was a must for allowing wb to run on windows 2000 and linux, however there might still be a good solution for cases like yours.

One could create an executable outside winbuilder.exe that would be used instead of the Indy download functions inside winbuilder and re-enable the possibility to use IE as the download engine but this time outside winbuilder to keep it as neutral as possible.

If you don't mind and help by providing some feedback (testing on your network a few winbuilder.exe's) until we get it right then I think this might soon implemented.

What do you say?

That would make perfect sense for an organization, but with that sort of thinking aren't you by any chance related to Machiavelli's family?!? laugh.gif
